Treviso beat their Italian rivals Zebre for a second time in two weeks with a 26-16 victory at their Stadio Monigo home.

Edoardo Gori and Leonardo Ghiraldini scored Treviso's tries and Italy fly-half Kristopher Burton landed a brace of conversions, penalties and drop goals to keep Treviso out of reach. Paolo Buso and Davide Venditti crossed for tries for Zebre.

The win means Treviso have now won three matches in a row and allows Franco Smith's team to move above Cardiff Blues to seventh in the table.

Burton put Treviso ahead with a second-minute drop goal and he doubled the lead with another five minutes later as Treviso sought to capitalise on their early control of possession.

Zebre fly-half Luciano Orquera narrowed the deficit to three with a penalty of his own, but they went a man down when Mauro Bergamasco was sent to the sin bin for a high tackle.

Burton punished Zebre immediately as he knocked over a penalty to restore Treviso's six-point lead. Soon after Gori opened the lead after he exploited a gap after Treviso had moved the ball wide and Burton converted.

As Bergamasco returned to the fray, Treviso hooker Ghiraldini was sent to the sin-bin for a dangerous tackle on Buso. Zebre were not able to use their numerical advantage though and they were limited to a solitary penalty from Gonzalo Garcia.

Just before half-time Burton scored his second penalty after more Zebre indiscipline at the breakdwn to send his side in with a 19-6 lead. Soon after the break, Ghiraldini made up for his earlier yellow card when he went over for his side's second try just a minute into the half.

Fullback Buso gave Zebre some hope with a try on the hour mark and Venditti came off the bench to add a second with a minute remaining.
