Montpellier 8-25 Ulster

Ulster coach Mark Anscombe said: "I'm enormously proud of the boys today, of the way we stuck to our game. We had talked about what we wanted to do and they did just that.

"The guys who started and the bench stuck to our plan. The defence was outstanding, we accumulated points, our kicking game was great and our chasing completed it to make it that way. To come here and beat them, and inflict their first home defeat this year, and by nearly 20 points - it's a pretty great occasion for our boys.

"A lot of our kicks were contested and we put them under pressure under those kicks, regained possession. That's what you want to do. They have a big team and we wanted to turn them around, prevent them from getting some go forward. We didn't want to give them early targets so they could put us on the back foot.

Montpellier coach Fabien Galthie: "I knew that a team like Ulster was certainly capable of hurting us. We played with a couple of young, inexperienced players who had never played at this level. It was one of those days where, if the smallest thing doesn't go your way, it can get pretty ugly.

"That was the case today, a lot of things didn't go our way. We are now in a very tough position for qualification. We have to be realistic; it is going to be complicated for us."

Cardiff Blues 19-15 Toulon

Cardiff Blues director of rugby Phil Davies said: "We have always felt we were going in the right direction, and the players were magnificent today. They fronted up superbly. It was a great win against a very good team.

"We were disappointed with the first half last week, but we showed a lot of resilience in the second period to come back and get a bonus point, and that bonus point looks pretty good today. Physically and emotionally, the players went perhaps to another level today.

"I think that was the youngest back division that Cardiff Blues have ever put on the field. We are back in the group, which is the most important thing. We've just got to keep building and building and become more consistent. It was great we got the result and it was great to hear the crowd singing. It was like the old days. We will keep moving forward and hopefully we can replicate more days like this one."

Munster 26-10 Gloucester

Munster's Rob Penney: I am very pleased. The Gloucester lads were resolute. They were a tough nut to crack. They deserve a lot of credit, coming over with a lot of changes. They made it a tough night for us. There are still elements of the performance we can grow. There is no doubt about that. There is no doubting their energy and effort. The week we had was a tough old one for the boys."

Gloucester's Nigel Davies: "I am obviously bitterly disappointed about the result, We probably weren't accurate enough when we had opportunities around the ball. It was our own doing in many ways. We have to look at ourselves first and foremost there. In terms of the effort and the commitment the team showed, it was fantastic. I am very, very proud of the group of players that took the field today."

Leinster 19-7 Castres Olympique

Leinster head coach Matt O'Connor: "I certainly think we got out of jail with regard to them getting nothing [no bonus point]. I don't think we got out of jail with regards to the result.

"In the first half we were, by far, the better side. They got a lucky score and we didn't capitalise on our opportunities. They came back hard in the second half but we'll take the four points. Castres are a quality side. They are physically massive as a group.

"You don't fluke it and win the Top 14 unless you've got a really good squad. We put a lot of holes in them but didn't capitalise. It is one of those things. You take the four points and make sure we are better next time."

Scarlets 26-26 Racing Metro

Scarlets' Simon Easterby: "Up until the 79th minute we would have been disappointed with the result, but then we got lucky. We played into their hands a little bit and we are probably lucky not to come away with loss. We have got to understand that we have not helped ourselves and we've given them opportunities. But there were lots of positives from the game. We showed a real intent at times."

Leicester Tigers 34-3 Benetton Treviso

Leicester Tigers fly-half Toby Flood: "If we qualify from our pool, we will look back and think we got five points which were important. But it's such an odd environment to take five points and play as poorly as that. We did not deserve it.

"There's no rhythm at the moment, no continuity. We are making too many errors and every time we get any momentum we turn the ball over. It has been frustrating to say the least. We did not expect to come in at half-time any more than that [13-0 ahead] because of the way we played. Credit to the guys for scoring three tries in the second half. They came here to shut up shop and make life difficult for us and we made life harder for ourselves."

Saracens 16-17 Toulouse

Saracens coach Mark McCall: "Toulouse are a very good team and we had to fight really hard in defence. For an hour we controlled them pretty well.

"That five-metre scrum was a horrible way to lose seven points. That said, our effort, energy, physicality and fight were extraordinary at times. Owen's penalty was pretty close. I thought there were a couple of penalties in those 22 phases at the end but it didn't appear as though they'd be given.

"It demonstrated the fight and composure of the team that we were able to do that. It's unbelievably disappointing to lose. This result puts Toulouse in control of the group to a degree, but we still have a lot to play for. We must do the job when we have Zebre back to back in December."

Zebre 6-33 Connacht

Connacht coach Pat Lam said: "The reason it's called a four-try bonus point is because that's what it is, a bonus. First and foremost you have to nail the game. There's no point scoring four tries and then losing the game. I'm sure both Toulouse and Saracens would have liked four points as well but they didn't get them either.

"That was a very good team performance by us, a very disciplined performance, especially on the back of what happened last week. Everyone said well done for running Saracens close, but asked whether we could do it again. So there was a lot of pressure on us to come out here and win, and to do it so convincingly was satisfying."

Zebre captain Marco Bortolami said: "Our biggest failing, as is so often the case, is that we failed to turn possession into points. We tried to play positive rugby and we carved out many opportunities, but all too often we left with nothing.

"Contrast the performance of Connacht. They didn't dominate us but it seemed as though every time they launched an attack, they came away with something. Credit to them, they are a good team, and they are a team that we can learn from in terms of the way they accumulate points."
