England internationals Ben Foden and Lee Dickson have agreed contract extensions at Northampton, two of five backs to sign new deals with the club.

Luther Burrell, Ken Pisi and Jamie Elliott have also agreed new terms just a week after forwards Tom Wood, Christian Day and Sam Dickinson committed their futures to the side.

"We're delighted these five players have signed new contracts," director of rugby Jim Mallinder said. "They have all come a long way in their time with us and are recognised as being some of the best players in their positions in the country. Retaining them was one of our main priorities.

"It's important we have a group of quality players who understand our culture and what we are trying to achieve. Ben, Lee, Luther, Ken and Jamie fit into that category."
