Jamie Roberts will, as expected, play in this year's Varsity Match for Cambridge University.

Roberts, who has 77 Wales caps and three with the British & Irish Lions, is a part-time student at Cambridge's Queens' College doing a Masters in medical science. His rugby career will continue with Harlequins after the Varsity game but come December 10, he will mirror Dan Vickerman's 2009 feat of playing in the annual clash while still being a fully-fledged active international.

"I'm immensely proud and honoured to be awarded a Blue and everything has come together for me. The Cambridge season culminates in the Varsity Match and we have been building nicely towards it," Roberts said. "We have got some good momentum going into the game off the back of three successive victories and we have really started to gel.

"There has been a consistency in selection and come the big day it is going to be all about keeping cool under pressure. It is all about not day dreaming or losing focus. There is a lot of fine tuning to be done between now and he next Thursday, but I am hugely excite about the whole event.

"It is going to be a unique experience for me and something that will be different to any other game I've played at Twickenham - it's a different group of players, a different standard and different prize. But it is still a very, very important rugby match.

"It won't be like playing for Wales against England in the World Cup, the Barbarians against New Zealand or in an EDF Energy Cup Final for Cardiff Blues as I've done in the past. But I can't wait!

"To win a Blue or Cambridge in a rugby context is a great honour and something I will cherish on my CV."
