A late try from replacement Ian Evans saw theOspreys come from behind to record a 10-6 win at Scarlets in a fierce Welsh derby at a packed Parc Y Scarlets. The Scarlets led 6-3 win six minutes remaining when Evans gathered an attacking line-out and was pushed over for a try - Dan Biggar added the conversion to an earlier penalty, with Rhys Priestland having kicked all the Scarlets' points.

The score set up a tense finale - made all the more so when Alun Wyn Jones was sent to the sin-bin to reduce the Ospreys to 14 men - as the Scarlets laid siege to the Ospreys' line. The problems blighting Welsh rugby were brought out before the match when spectators staged a demonstration against the power struggle between board and regions.

A try from Stuart Hogg 13 minutes from time gave Glasgow a morale-boosting 20-16 win over Edinburgh in the 1872 Cup tie at Murrayfield. Edinburgh looked the better side for long periods - Dougie Fife scored the only other try of the game for them - but the boot of Duncan Weir, who kicked five penalties, kept Glasgow in the tie. However, Edinburgh failed to capitalise on a spell when Glasgow were down to 13 men after a seemingly innocuous fight, and they paid when Hogg ran 40 metres to score from a kick over the Edinburgh defence.

Glasgow have won the 1872 Cup - contested over their two league meetings - for the last four years and they are in strong position to make it five in a row when Edinburgh travel to Scotstoun Stadium for the return leg on New Year's Day.

In the all-Italian derby on Saturday, Treviso beat Zebre 20-15. First-half tries from Cornelius van Zyl and Manoa Vosawai and 10 points from the boot of Matt Berquist won it for the home side at the Stadio Comunale di Monigo, while Marco Bortolami and Dries van Schalkwyk crossed over for the visitors with Luciano Orquera adding the extras.

Newport Gwent Dragons won their derby with the Cardiff Blues 22-16. Fly-half Jason Tovey, who kicked 17 points, was the difference between the sides although the Blues replied with 11 points from the boot of Leigh Halfpenny and hooker Kristian Dacey's fourth try in four consecutive league matches. However, the Dragons always held the upper hand and now move into sixth place ahead of the Scarlets.
