On a day the national team suffered a cruel exit at the quarterfinal stage of the Rugby World Cup, there was mixed results for Welsh clubs in the Guinness PRO12 as Ospreys picked up their first win of the season, while Cardiff were on the wrong end of a high-scoring encounter in Ireland.

Ospreys defeated winless Benetton Treviso 25-22 in Italy, with Sam Davies scoring a try and adding 10 points from his boot. Dan Evans and Ben Johns also went over for the visitors, while a late Luca Bigi try for the hosts ensured they picked up a bonus point in defeat.

James Ambrosini and Jayden Hayward also touched down for Treviso, with Hayward converting two as well as splitting the posts with an early penalty.

In Ireland, Munster staged a late comeback to secure a 35-27 win in an end-to-end game that denied Cardiff Blues only their second away victory in the Pro12 since September 2014.

Man-of-the-match Ian Keatley converted his own try, as well as scores from Jordan Coghlan, Andrew Conway and two from Mike Sherry as the Cork side made it four wins on the bounce.

Well-worked tries from Tavis Knoyle and Richard Smith had given Cardiff a 17-14 advantage at the interval, before a try from Tom Isaacs extended the lead early in the second half.

But it wasn't enough for the Blues, as Munster stormed back with Sherry, Coghlan and Conway all going over without reply.
