Sebastian Vettel has extended his Red Bull contract until the end of 2015, putting an end to speculation he might join Ferrari next season.

Last year rumours surfaced that he had signed a pre-contract with rivals Ferrari but both Red Bull and Vettel denied the stories. The three-time world champions have now put an end to the speculation, at least in the immediate future, by confirming Vettel will stay until the end of 2015.

"Infiniti Red Bull Racing is happy to confirm that World Champion Sebastian Vettel has extended his multi-year contract with the team until the end of 2015," read a statement. "A previous member of the Red Bull Junior squad, Sebastian first drove for Red Bull Racing in 2009. During his Formula One career, the 25-year-old has achieved 29 wins, 51 podiums and 39 pole positions. He is the current Formula One World Champion and also a triple World Champion, having retained the title since he first won it in 2010."

Vettel's team-mate for 2014 has yet to be confirmed with rumours Mark Webber will leave the team when his current one-year contract expires. Following the Malaysian Grand Prix, where Vettel ignored team orders to overtake Webber and win the race, there has been speculation that Webber's position beyond the end of the season is untenable.

Kimi Raikkonen is among the drivers rumoured to be in with a chance at securing a Red Bull drive next year, while Toro Rosso's Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne are also eyeing the seat.
