Red Bull has announced that Pierre Wache has become its head of vehicle dynamics, replacing Mark Ellis who is leaving the team to move to Mercedes.

Mercedes announced this week that Ellis and Giles Wood will leave Red Bull to join its team in the summer, forcing the champions to reshuffle their engineering department. Wache joined the team from Sauber last June as chief engineer, car performance and the team is confident he is "well positioned to take on this new role".

"Infiniti Red Bull Racing is pleased to advise that Pierre Waché, Chief Engineer, Car Performance, will take over responsibility for the Vehicle Dynamics department for the team with immediate effect," a statement said. "Having been recruited twelve months ago, Pierre joined the team from Sauber in June and is now well positioned to take on this new role.

"The team would like to thank Mark Ellis and Giles Wood for their contribution and wish them well for the future."
