Webber ready for challenge of 'sensational' Suzuka
Mark Webber has described the Suzuka circuit as "sensational", although highlighted the lack of run-off in some areas as a potential concern.
The Japanese Grand Prix will take place at Suzuka next weekend, with the circuit highly regarded amongst the drivers. Webber had a big crash at the Degner curves during FP3 in 2009 which left his car so badly damaged it forced him to sit out qualifying and he admits it's a track that can punish even the slightest mistake.
"It's caught the best of them out, for sure; Lewis has had a few walks there as well," Webber said. "It is touch and go in places ... it's a great track, a sensational circuit. I think the issue is it is hard for us to recover the car; Degner One is a corner which is hard for us to get the car back in some sort of order before we make contact with the barriers.
"I suppose Degner One, a little bit of the first sector (have little run-off) but after that it's a very, very good circuit and one that we love driving at. It's up there with Spa, Silverstone and I suppose Monaco in a different way in terms of how prestigious it is. You really can let the cars go round there so I've enjoyed driving the simulator the last few days around there."
