Vettel unconcerned by weather forecast

Sebastian Vettel says the threat of rain on Sunday for the Brazilian Grand Prix does not concern him as he attempts to win the world championship.

Although he holds a 13-point lead over Fernando Alonso and has a faster car than his title rival in dry conditions, Alonso won in the wet of Malaysia and was on pole position in wet conditions at both Silverstone and Hockenheim. While the forecast for Sunday is for rain, Vettel said it is pointless worrying about the predicted weather.

"In terms of general preparation we do all we can," Vettel said. "Weather-wise I think it's Sao Paulo; it's the same f you go to Spa, things can happen quickly and the weather changes a lot here. I spoke to some locals and there was some big rain two days ago which wasn't expected, probably for Saturday and Sunday there's some rain on the way but then again you don't know how much and when.

"I asked Pirelli yesterday if they had all the containers here with the rain tyres and that's the case so I don't think we have to be concerned."

Vettel admitted he was confident that he'd have the car capable of defending his championship lead based on previous performances at Interlagos.

"The circuit seemed to suit our car in previous years, I think we need to confirm it this year so all eyes on Friday to start the weekend to get in to the groove, but I think we can be as confident as we could at this stage. We know there's a lot ahead but we are in a great position."
