Bulls take first step to survival

Bradford Bulls have staved off the immediate threat of administration after the Super League club raised their initial target of £500,000.
The three-time World Club Challenge champions were "at death's door" last month after revealing they were close to going bust.
The club still needs to raise a total of £1 million to secure its long-term survival, but has raised £506,000 to avoid immediate financial ruin. Bulls chief executive Ryan Duckett confirmed Bulls were in confidential talks over ways to raise further funds.
"Fans, supporters, sponsors, local business and the entire rugby league community have come together in a remarkable effort that has seen those supporters achieve this initial milestone for the club," Duckett said.
"The club will now proceed to the next phase of our plan, in connection with which I can confirm a number of confidential discussions are underway. We now need everyone to redeem their pledges as soon as possible so that the club can address its short-term issues while those discussions continue.
"The directors, staff, coaching staff and players would like to sincerely thank all of those who have pledged and those who have contributed in a broader sense - working tirelessly, fundraising and organising events to raise cash for the club. We are truly grateful to every participant for every ounce of effort put in to save the club."
