Wigan Warriors have beaten Warrington Wolves 30-16 to claim the Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford.

They also become the first team in seven years to win both the Super League and the Challenge Cup in the same campaign, and they did so after fighting back from 14 points adrift.

An early incident which saw Blake Green being punched in the face by Warrington's Ben Westwood was not spotted by the match official. Green was able to continue playing despite needing oxygen.

Pat Richards, whose eight-year Wigan career was set to come to an end after the game as he will move back to the NRL, gave Wigan the lead on 12 minutes with a long-range penalty.

Warrington though fought back to take a 16-2 lead when they scored three tries in the space of six minutes, as Joel Monaghan, Westwood and Simon Grix put them in command.

Wigan dug deep to hurl themselves back into the match. Darrell Goulding went over the line to close the gap to 10 points at the break, and the second period was all about Wigan as they romped home with tries from Michael McIlorum, Josh Charnley, Green and fittingly Richards to clinch the victory.
