Crusaders secured an historic victory with a tense 18-16 victory over Hull. Winning their second consecutive match for the first time in their Super League history, a late try sunk high-flying Hull, who were unbeaten after victories over Huddersfield and St Helen's.

Hull led through Kirk Yeaman's try on the hour mark, and looked on course for their third straight win of the season. But the Welsh side refused to die down and Nick Youngquest went over for his second try of the match, and Michael Witt, who scored Crusader's second try, converted from the touchline to seal the win.

Crusaders coach Brian Noble was delighted with the victory but refused to get carried away. "We've worked extremely hard since we got together in January and they got their just rewards today but we will keep a lid firmly on it," he said. "It was a fabulous and I think we thoroughly deserved to win. We are playing a good team with some great individuals and quality there."

In Sunday's other match, Huddersfield's David Hodgson scored three tries as the Giants enjoyed a comfortable 30-0 victory over Hull KR at Craven Park.

Tries from Shaun Lunt, Leroy Cudjoe and Larne Patrick and three goals from Brett Hodgson were met with no reply from Justin Morgan's side. "I will have to delve very deeply to find any positives to take from today," said Morgan. "We were way off with our attack and our defence was very scratchy."

Wigan staged a dramatic second-half fightback to claim a stunning 22-20 win at Warrington.

The Warriors were heading for their first defeat under new coach Michael Maguire when they trailed 16-4 at the break but second-half tries by Amos Roberts, Joel Tomkins and Darrell Goulding put Wigan ahead.

Louis Anderson cut the deficit to two late on but Chris Bridge failed with the conversion as Wigan held on.

Matt Gidley, Jonny Lomax and Francis Meli helped themselves to two tries apiece as St Helens thrashed Catalans 42-12.

A Matt Orford-inspired Bradford Bulls defeated Castleford Tigers 41-22 at Odsal to record their first win of the season.

The Bulls profited from a flying start to claim a 15-point cushion before the first quarter of the game had elapsed, and - despite Castleford threatening a revival on several occasions - they always kept their opponents at a comfortable distance.

Orford, who joined in the summer from the National Rugby League, was the game's outstanding player, creating several chances with astute kicking. "We had to put our heads up and put a much better performance in [than last week's 38-6 defeat to St Helens], so it was a big step forward," he said.

The Tigers' disappointment was exacerbated by the news that Richard Owen, the 18-year-old wing, has suffered a suspected broken leg.

Salford City Reds replace Bradford at the foot of the table after losing 22-10 to Grand Final champions Leeds Rhinos, who recovered from back-to-back defeats. Veteran centre Keith Senior scored two tries for Leeds.
