Nico Hulkenberg believes Sauber has the potential to achieve "good things" in 2013, but stopped short of predicting podiums.

Hulkenberg has joined the Swiss team from Force India this year and will embark on his third season in F1 with a different team. Last year Sauber was the surprise package on the F1 grid and scored four podiums over the course of the season with Sergio Perez and Kamui Kobayashi.

But Hulkenberg, who's best finish of 2012 came in Belgium when he finished fourth, did not want to speculate on what would be possible at his new team in 2013.

"I wouldn't talk about scoring podiums at this point because it's too early," he told the latest edition of Autosport. "Nobody knows where the cars are going to be. But I see the potential there and I hope that we can achieve a good things, whatever that may be."

Hulkenberg has been linked to a drive at Ferrari in the future, with Sauber seen as a stepping stone to the Italian squad. He is confident that he is ready to make the step up to a top team when the time is right.

"I think it will be a new situation once I am in a top car and obviously there will be more attention," he said. "It will take a bit of time to learn and to adapt but I think that I could handle it."
