Scotland skipper Chris Cusiter insists that his side are ready to move on from their Cardiff nightmare.

They face a Six Nations trip to face Italy in Rome this weekend with their capitulation against Wales still fresh in the memory. Scotland shipped 17 points in the final 10 minutes at the Millennium Stadium, with replacements Scott Lawson and Phil Godman both sin-binned. Lawson has since phoned the management and his team-mates to apologise.

"I don't think anyone shirks that responsibility," Cusiter said. "The guys who made mistakes know who they are. A lot of us made mistakes - I'll hold my hand up as well. We've got to learn from it and not make those mistakes again. To be in that situation - 10 points up with five minutes to go - and then to lose like we did was heartbreaking."

Scotland picked up their first win over Italy in three attempts last season and lost on their last visit to the Stadio Flaminio in 2008. The Azzurri ran England close on their last outing and Cusiter is predicting a battle.

"It's just a huge game in terms of the championship and the Scotland-Italy history," he said. "They're a tough team to break down, no doubt about that.

"Particularly playing at home, they're a very, very proud team. It's a huge challenge for us to go over there, as big as any we'll face in the Six Nations."
