Scotland boss Andy Robinson will demand that his players go above and beyond the call of duty when two Tri-Nations superpowers arrive at Murrayfield in November.

Robinson will pit his improving side against New Zealand, South Africa and Samoa during their autumn campaign, beginning with the visit of the All Blacks on November 13. Scotland are currently on a three-match unbeaten run, having overturned Ireland in their final Six Nations game before battling to an impressive series win over Argentina in June.

"These matches will require a special performance," Robinson said. "Individually and collectively we will need to be at our very best for what would be a huge achievement in massive, back-to-back games. They're certainly not friendlies."

Both Edinburgh and Glasgow have made slow starts to the Magners League season but Robinson hopes they have turned a corner.

"We're building a team for the autumn Tests and I will pick a team to perform and team that believes that it can win against New Zealand, South Africa and Samoa," he said. "I'll be looking at the components needed to beat New Zealand. We have to improve our pace, physicality, and technical attributes - and I'll be looking for these attributes in their club performances.

"Selection will be based on previous Scotland performances, current form, and tactics. Clearly a lot of the players who performed on the Argentina tour have plusses next to their names. I've been delighted with some of the recent performances of Edinburgh and Glasgow - from a head coach's perspective, players are starting to show some form."
