Just under 105 years after they met for the first time in Test rugby, Scotland are still waiting for their first win over New Zealand.

They have faced the All Blacks 27 times in total, and only twice have they managed to avoid defeat. The Scots remarkably held the Kiwis to a scorless draw before a crowd of 70,000 fans at Murrayfield in January, 1964. They repeated the feat some 19 years later when, despite being outscored by three tries to one, the Scots claimed a 25-25 draw with the All Blacks thanks in no small part to the goal-kicking of fullback Peter Dods, who landed five penalties in total. Two drop goals from fly-half John Rutherford also proved key.

Since then, though, the Scots have suffered 15 successive defeats at the hands of the Kiwis. Many of the defeats have been of the heavy variety, with the Scots' nadir undoubtedly a 69-20 capitulation in Carisbrook in 2000.

Jonah Lomu scored a hat-trick in that encounter, while Tana Umaga bagged a brace and these two legendary All Blacks share the record for most tries scored by a single player in this fixture, with both men having notched seven times in total.

In that light, that neither will be playing on Saturday could be construed as a bonus for the home side, but it will hardly make the Scots' task of claiming that elusive first win over the All Blacks any easier.
