Scotland winger Sean Lamont has had enough of the "valiant losers" tag and has urged his team-mates to hold a frank session of finger-pointing in the wake of their Six Nations defeat to Wales.

The Scots crashed to a 24-6 loss at Murrayfield on Saturday and go into the February 27 clash with Ireland - 25-22 losers to France yesterday - facing the prospect of a wooden spoon decider in the tournament finale with Italy on March 19.

"I'm sick of having this year after year, valiant losers or whatever," Lamont told PA Sport. "I'm sick of it - I want to win something, I really do. The players owe it to the coaches and the fans.

"We need to pull our fingers out, there's been too many years gone by where we've been also-rans. It's not good enough. We need to do some finger-pointing and soul searching."

Lamont, who replaced Hugo Southwell after 20 minutes after the fullback took a blow to the face, was one of Scotland's few players to perform, making numerous breaks and a try-saving tackle on Wales centre Jamie Roberts.

And the versatile Scarlets back is infuriated at being left out of the first XV when those occupying starting places are under-performing. "I think every one of our boys needs to be looking over their shoulder because the performances, bar a few, were simply not good enough."

Head coach Andy Robinson is certain to make changes for the visit of Ireland, with Lamont among those who could be promoted to start. Moray Low is set to come in at tight-head prop, with Euan Murray unavailable due to his religious beliefs preventing him from playing on Sundays.

Second row Richie Gray is also set to return after missing out through illness, while Johnnie Beattie could return following shoulder surgery. Southwell, who required stitches to his face, was among 11 players to require treatment following the game.
