Gloucester head coach Bryan Redpath has signed a new contract with the Aviva Premiership club after guiding them into the play-offs.

The former Scotland scrum-half has been joined in re-signing by forwards coach Carl Hogg, with both men committed until at least 2014.

Redpath is in his second season at the helm, after initially joining the club as backs coach, and secured their first silverware in five years with victory over Newcastle in this season's Anglo-Welsh Cup final.

Their third-place Premiership finish also secured a play-off clash against Saracens at Vicarage Road next Sunday.

Redpath's fellow ex-Scotland international Hogg, meanwhile, has been at Kingsholm since 2006 and served as academy manager before taking on his current role as forwards coach.

"We've got an outstanding group of staff, and all their hard work has gone into what we've achieved so far this year," Redpath said.

"The performance so far has yielded a contract renewal for myself and Carl, and I'm delighted to stay. I've thoroughly enjoyed it, even though it has been tough. We're trying to build an old-fashioned club culture.

"I can't think of any better place to do that than at Gloucester, and three years gives us a good platform. The challenge now is to improve again for next season."

Meanwhile, Sale Sharks have completed the signing of Russian second-row forward Andrei Ostrikov from French club Aurillac. Ostrikov, 23, will follow his countryman Vasili Artemiev into the Aviva Premiership next season after the winger landed a deal with Northampton.

"Andrei is a big, athletic lad who has been coached well in France," Steve Diamond, Sale's executive director of sport, said. "His desire is to spend some time in England, and he's a hungry lad. He has a giant opportunity awaiting him here."
