Wales are likely to be without Scarlets winger Morgan Stoddart for the forthcoming Six Nations.

The 27-year-old - who started three of Wales' games in the 2011 tournament - has been out of action since breaking his leg in a Rugby World Cup warm-up clash with England at Twickenham in August.

Scarlets coach Nigel Davis confirmed that Stoddart is unlikely to return until the midway stage of the Six Nations despite positive news on his recovery.

Wales kick-off their campaign against Ireland in Dublin on February 5, when Cardiff Blues' Alex Cuthbert, the Dragons' Aled Brew and Stoddart's Scarlets team-mate Liam Williams are in line to compete for the wing berth recently vacated by Shane Williams.

"Morgan won't be available until about late February or March," Davies said. "He hasn't had a setback and in fact he has had some good news. He had a scan recently and the calcification of his bones is very good.

"He has started running, very gingerly at the moment which will help his recovery but it won't be until February or March when we will see him back."
