Glasgow Warriors and Scotland winger Rory Lamont has downplayed a facial injury he suffered in the Boxing Day clash with Edinburgh.

The 29-year-old landed heavily after colliding with Edinburgh flanker Ross Rennie 35 minutes RaboDirect PRO12 match at Murrayfield. Lamont was carried from the field wearing a neck brace but he was conscious in the dressing room and was only taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.

Medics took Lamont almost straight to hospital with facial injuries but the player later tweeted: "Other than a headache and sore face all is good."

Lamont, who has been capped 26 times by his country, joined Glasgow earlier this month after securing an early release from his contract with Toulon because of a lack of game with the Top 14 outfit.

There was further bad news for the Warriors as No.8 Johnnie Beattie (knee) and prop Ryan Grant (ankle) were also forced off through injury during the game in the Scottish capital.
