Scotland have added Edinburgh's Phil Godman to their squad for the 2012 Six Nations.

The 29-year-old was the hero of the hour for Michael Bradley's Edinburgh last weekend as he nailed a last-gasp drop-goal to secure a 27-24 win over Racing Metro. And with doubts over the fitness of Ruaridh Jackson and the row over Steve Shingler showing no signs of ending, Godman will be part of the squad for the opening two games of the forthcoming tournament.

Edinburgh face a must-win clash this weekend with London Irish in the final round of the Heineken Cup and Godman's focus will be solely on that before attending training with Scotland in St Andrews next week.

Godman recovered from a serious knee injury sustained last term to play an important part in Edinburgh's Heineken Cup run this season and the call up serves as recognition for him re-finding his best form. "You always think about getting back into it for the club but also about playing for Scotland as well," Godman said. "It's just great to be back playing for Edinburgh and to be back involved with Scotland."
