Scotland international hooker Scott Lawson looks set for a return back to the north of the border after Gloucester confirmed he would be leaving the club at the end of the season.

Lawson has been at Kingsholm since the start of the 2008-09 season and is part of the current Scotland squad for the 2012 Six Nations. He has two World Cups under his belt and has become an integral part of the Cherry and White's front-row.

But Gloucester have announced that he will depart from Kingsholm at the end of the current campaign with his most likely destination either Glasgow or Edinburgh. Rory Lawson is also rumoured to be courting interest from Scotland amid reports that Gloucester are on the verge of signing All Blacks scrum-half Jimmy Cowan.

Gloucester boss Bryan Redpath paid tribute to Lawson saying: "Scott's always given nothing less than his best for Gloucester during his time with us. He'll go with our best wishes and we wish him well for the future."
