Tournaments/Tours: Scotland tour

The Scottish Rugby Union has confirmed that a national team select will no longer take on the Waratahs while on tour in the southern hemisphere next month.

Scotland had pencilled in a fixture with the Super Rugby side on June 10 in Sydney but their four-match schedule has now been reduced to three. Scotland's team manager Gavin Scott revealed the reasons behind the cancellation saying: "We have had confirmation from the Waratahs that due to injuries and the requirements of the Wallabies squad they would be unable to fulfil the fixture.

"We have looked into alternatives but, unfortunately, nothing else fits into our tour schedule."

The cancellation means Scotland will now take a reduced party to the southern hemisphere with the new squad said to be 28 players strong.

Scotland's summer tour:

Tuesday June 5 - Australia in Newcastle, kick-off 7.30pm local (10.30am BST)
Saturday June 16 - Fiji in Lautoka, kick-off 2pm local time (3am BST)
Saturday June 23 - Samoa in Apia, kick-off 3.30pm local time (3.30am BST)
