Saracens and Scotland flanker Kelly Brown has earmarked Septemebr for his return from his long-term injury.

Brown has been out of action after picking up a knee injury against Treviso back in January causing him to miss Saracens' Aviva Premiership run-in and the 2012 Six Nations with Scotland. But Brown is confident of returning in time to feature in Saracens' first game of the new season which will be against London Irish on September 1 at Twickenham.

"I've been fortunate that this is my first major injury in eight seasons," Brown told BBC London. "I've been working very hard and have not had much time off because I want to be back as soon as I can.

"It's not ideal to miss the whole Six Nations and the run-in in the Heineken Cup and the Premiership. I've worked hard and I want to come back stronger than ever. With a little bit of luck I'll be fit and ready for that first game."

Brown helped guide a Saracens 7s side to glory last year in Melrose and he has tipped some of his team-mates to make a big impact in the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Premiership 7s Series which kicks off this Friday at the Twickenham Stoop.

"I was fortunate enough to take a young Sarries side up to the Melrose 7s last year. I'm from Melrose in Scotland and I was manager because I was injured and it was great to take the guys up and manage to win it," said Brown. "Nils Mordt is certainly one to look out for. He's played with England 7s and every time we have a 7s tournament he's normally captain. He reads the game very well but he's also got a lot of skill.

"And then there's a couple of young guys too. James Short played a few senior games last year, he's very fast and he's got fast feet and is strong with it. Again there's a young scrum-half Luke Baldwin, he's very fast and a particularly dangerous 7s player."
