Sale Sharks No.8 Andy Powell has escaped a suspension but has landed a fine following their game with Bath at the weekend.

Powell pleaded guilty to "mouthing foul language and making an offensive hand gesture to spectators" - an incident that occurred in the closing stages of the match following his sin-bin. He was hit with a £5,000 fine of which £4,000 is suspended until May 30, 2013.

While Powell escaped a ban, Sale fullback Tom Brady was not so fortunate. He was "charged with an alleged dangerous tackle" on Ben Skirving and was hit with a two-week suspension. He will be free to play on October 16 and will miss Friday's game with Leicester and their Heineken Cup clash with the Cardiff Blues on October 14.
