Scotland captain Kelly Brown has been ruled out of the remainder of his side's tour of South Africa with an ankle injury.

The 31-year-old flanker suffered the injury during Scotland's 27-17 defeat to Samoa last weekend and subsequent scans have revealed that he will not recover in time to take any further part in the tour that continues with a clash against South Africa in Nelspruit on Saturday.

Prop Geoff Cross has also seen his tour ended prematurely due to injury but prop Euan Murray and No.8 Johnnie Beattie are reportedly making good progress from hamstring and shoulder injuries and are in line to face the Boks. In related news, Glasgow Warriors hooker Fraser Brown has been called up to the squad following Pat MacArthur's withdrawal on Sunday.
