Former Scotland rugby international Norman Pender is to face trial in Glasgow's High Court in December after pleading not guilty to a number of sex allegations, including rape.

The 65-year-old Pender, who played four internationals for Scotland between 1977 and 1978, has been charged with raping a girl on several occasions between 1990 and 1997 and two charges of using lewd and libidinous practices towards the same girl. He is also charged with sexually assaulting her on various occasions between 1994 and 1997 and of lewd and libidinous behaviour against a second girl between 1996 and 1997.
