Three Scotland players are part of a police investigation into an incident which left an amateur club player with a fractured eye socket.

Reports in both the Herald Scotland and the Telegraph claim Glasgow Hawks player Ally MacLay was left with head injuries after a fracas took place at a takeaway shop on Glasgow's Great Western Road.

Those same reports claim three current Scotland internationals are due to be questioned by police, along with a Sevens player.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We received a report of a 29-year-old man being assaulted outside a takeaway shop in Great Western Road, Glasgow, on Sunday morning. Inquiries are continuing and no arrests have been made."

A Glasgow Warriors spokesman added: "At the moment it is speculation and we don't comment on speculation."
