Hogg slapped with three-week ban

Scotland fullback Stuart Hogg has been given a three-week ban for his late charge on Dan Biggar during the Six Nations clash with Wales which earned him a red card.

Hogg appeared in front of a disciplinary panel in London and he did not contest the decision. He was told "there were no aggravating factors" and the panel thought his actions in the mid-range of the IRB sanctions for that type of offence which would mean a five-week ban.

However, they gave him a two-week reduction "to account for mitigating factors, including the player's remorse for the incident both on the day of the match and subsequently through the media".

He will not be free to play until April 6.

Immediately after the game Hogg apologised to Biggar, his team-mates and referee Jerome Garces - who initially showed him a yellow card before upgrading the punishment after the incident was replayed.
