New South Wales Waratahs prop Benn Robinson has added improvements to his game after working with former Argentina front-rower Mario Ledesma ahead of the Super Rugby campaign.

Ledesma was brought on board by coach Michael Cheika this season, having worked in a similar role under the Australian at Stade Francais in 2011-2012, and Robinson said he was benefiting from the experience of the former Pumas star who won 84 caps and played in four World Cups.

"He's very good," Robinson said. "We haven't had someone looking over our scrums for a while now. It's good to have someone offer some advice every now and then, and he is very critical.

"He has made a few adjustments for me, and I feel really good and the hit out against the Chiefs last week was a fair indication of how we've progressed from where we were at the start of last year. I am enjoying his scrummaging techniques and also his language skills."

Robinson has made 72 appearances for the Wallabies since his debut in 2006, but is yet to play in a World Cup. A loss of form in 2007 saw him fail to make the squad, and he missed the 2011 tournament in New Zealand with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament. He's refusing to focus his mind on the 2015 showpiece in the UK for fear of missing out again.

"There is that World Cup in the background, and I know it's easy to say it, but I have to take it week by week," Robinson said. "I know footy players say that all the time but I can't have a focus on what's happening later in the year. I have to just focus on how I train, how I play when I run out and if I play consistently well then the cards will fall my way."
