Scotland scrum-half Henry Pyrgos to miss start of Six Nations

Scotland scrum-half Henry Pyrgos will miss the start of the Six Nations after undergoing wrist surgery.

Pyrgos is out for about four months while his Glasgow and Scotland teammate Fraser Brown faces two months out following a foot operation.

A statement from the Warriors read: "Scrum-half Henry Pyrgos exacerbated a wrist injury while away with Scotland and has undergone surgery at Spire Leeds Hospital, whilst under the care of the Scotland medical team. He is expected to be out of action for around four months."

The Glasgow statement added: "Hooker Fraser Brown has had an operation on a foot injury exacerbated while away with Scotland at the Rugby World Cup and is expected to remain on the sidelines for up to eight weeks.

"Other players are currently undergoing investigation at BMI Ross Hall Hospital and updates will be provided in due course."

Pyrgos looks set to miss games against England, Wales and Italy in February. The 26-year-old made only one appearance at the World Cup, but captained the team to victory over the United States.

Pyrgos, who has scored four tries in 17 internationals, was an unused substitute in Scotland's other four games as he provided cover for skipper Greig Laidlaw.
