Munster held off a desperate finale from Edinburgh to seize a 16-14 win in a bruising encounter at Murrayfield and leave the hosts nursing a third successive PRO12 defeat.

John Ryan touched down for the visitors and the reliable boot of Ian Keatley contributed 11 points, while Will Helu scored his first try for the hosts and Sam Hidalgo-Clyne kicked the rest.

With the clocking ticking towards 80 minutes, the Irish side looked to have the win secured. But an interception and lung-bursting run by Edinburgh winger Damien Hoyland created the platform for a series of surges that almost yielded the match-winning score.

And, with almost four minutes of injury time played, Hidalgo-Clyne made a bid for glory with a drop goal attempt. However, it was charged down and Munster recorded a result that leaves them unbeaten in Edinburgh for four years.

Cardiff Blues slumped to their sixth successive defeat as Glasgow claimed maximum points with a 35-30 success at the Arms Park.

Gavin Evans crossed in the first half and Rhys Patchell kicked 20 points for the Blues.

But Glasgow overturned an early deficit with tries from Taqele Naiyaravoro, Leone Nakarawa, Ryan Grant and Jonny Gray clinched a bonus-point win.

Stuart Hogg then became the second Glasgow player binned in the second half when he conceded a late penalty try.

But Cardiff fell short to suffer a seventh successive defeat to the reigning champions.

Wing Eli Walker crossed for two tries as Ospreys secured a much-needed bonus point victory over Zebre at the Liberty Stadium.

The 36-3 triumph was only the Welsh region's second win of the campaign having lost five of their opening six games.

The hosts, who were boosted by the return of captain Alun Wyn Jones for his first appearance since the World Cup, also saw Jonathan Spratt, Josh Matavesi, Justin Tipuric and Sam Parry claim tries to go with Walker's brace.

Dan Biggar supplied two conversions and Sam Davies one, while Zebre's only contribution to the scoreboard was a penalty by fly-half Carlo Canna.
