The Scottish Rugby Union has appointed former British Lion Peter Wright as a Youth Development officer.
Wright, who won 21 caps for Scotland between 1992 and 1996, will work as Youth Development Officer for Dumfries and Galloway. His remit will be to work with clubs and schools in the area, both supporting existing players and attracting new players to the sport. Local clubs have welcomed the news. John Low, president of Stewartry rugby club said: "This is great news for all Dumfries and Galloway clubs. The area is so big and clubs are so far apart that the development officer becomes a bit of a lifeline for us."
Dougie Arneil, SRU Technical Administrator for the Domestic Game, added: "I'm absolutely delighted that Peter is joining the development team. He is a man of exceptional experience on the playing field and has come through our whole playing system."
