Edinburgh
December 7, 1999

Scotland is set to send a team to the fourth Student Rugby World Cup which will be held in Italy in August next year.
Arrangements are still being finalised but it is intended that 16 teams will participate. Players under 25 on 31 December this year who are students in the 1999-2000 academic year, or who completed their studies in the 1998-99 academic year will be eligible for selection.
Scotland have competed in all three of the previous tournaments, losing in the quarter-finals in both 1988 in France and 1992 in Italy and finishing fourth in the last tournament in South Africa in 1996 during which they defeated New Zealand.
