Troncon out
March 14, 2001

Italy's former captain Alessandro Troncon has had to pull out of the
Scottish game because of a calf injury.

Out is also winger Denis Dallan,
from Treviso. As replacements Brad Johnstone and Matt Vaea have called
up Roma centre Nanni Raineri and Parma scrum half Filippo Frati.

Troncon's relationship with the Italian jersey has been particularly
unlucky in the past few months. After last summer's argument with coach
Brad Johnstone, following his refusal to travel with Italy to Samoa and
Fiji, Troncon was called up again for national squad duty in November
against Romania, but in the next game, facing the All Blacks, had to
leave the field after just two minutes of play because of concussion.

Back in the Italian squad for the Six Nation's debut against Ireland,
the Montferrand scrum half was sent off for punching in the second half
and banned for three weeks.

Troncon returned on the field for Italy
against France a fortnight ago but was replaced by argentinean born
Manuel Queirolo at the end of an unsatisfying performance.
