Scottish scrum half Andy Nicol is poised to make a return for the Glasgow Calendonians on Wednesday against Pontypridd.

Nicol had been suffering from a chest infection that forced him out of the Caledonians' last game against Newport 10 days ago.

He will be back to captain his side at Sardis Road with Fraser Scott, a try scorer against Newport in the 27-6 win, dropping to the bench.

The Reds' only other change in the starting line-up is that Guy Perrett, the West of Scotland club captain, takes over at lock from Jason White, who has a broken finger.

It will be Perrett's first game for the Reds since the Welsh Challenge Trophy match at Bridgend in January 1999. He dropped out of professional rugby after that to concentrate on medical studies.

He is available to travel for tomorrow's match as he is on holiday from his medical duties thisweek.

Jon Steel, the international wing who has missed the Reds' past two matches because of a leg injury, resumes in the squad as a replacement.

Tomorrow's match is the reply of the November game which was abandoned at half-time because of wild weather, with the Reds leading 21-14.

Kick-off at Pontypridd will be at 7.15pm. Glasgow Caledonians' team:

Glenn Metcalfe, James McLaren, 13 Alan Bulloch, Jon Stuart, Rory Kerr, Tommy Hayes, Andy Nicol (captain), David Hilton, Gordon Bulloch, Gordon McIlwham, Colin Stewart, Guy Perrett, Gordon Simpson, Gareth Flockhart, Jon Petrie, Replacements: Gavin Scott, Lee Harrison, Roland Reid, Donnie Macfadyen, Fraser Stott, Jon Steel, Barry Irving.
