Reivers shed more players
April 25, 2001

Edinburgh Reivers are to release test prop Matthew Proudfoot and Scotland A wing Kenny Milligan at the end of the season.

The decision takes the total players on their way out to seven, with Carl Hogg, Stuart Lang, Mark Lee, Conan Sharman and Iain Sinclair also being shown the door.

Chief executive Nick Oswald said: "The club are currently planning for the future and unfortunately for the players they don't play a part in those plans. It's a difficult time all round and we are obviously looking to strengthen
the squad for next season and we also have to create some space. That's the process going on at the minute and that's why the contracts of seven players aren't being renewed."

The Super District have not had the best of seasons, but Oswald revealed that they would be casting their search far and wide to make them a force in next season's Heineken Cup and Celtic League. We have made some announcements recently and we hope to make more positive announcements and additions to the squad over the next few weeks," he added.
"I'm going to be suitably vague here and say that we are looking all over and casting our net as far as possible to see what happens. I'm not going to say we're going to go for player A because we have to look at everyone and we'll be looking at players in Scotland and outside Scotland."
