Weir cops lengthy ban

Melrose back-row forward Tom Weir was banned for 26 weeks by the Scottish Rugby Union disciplinary panel at a hearing at Murrayfield on Tuesday night.

He will be out of action up to and including December 29 following his dismissal for stamping by referee Rob Dickson (Madras College FP) in the BT Cellnet Cup final against Boroughmuir on Saturday, April 28.
