Lomu starts against Scots
May 22, 2001

New Zealand wing Jonah Lomu will make his first appearance of the Barbarians' short UK tour against Scotland at Murrayfield on Thursday.

Lomu missed the 40-38 win over a Wales XV at Cardiff last Sunday, but takes his place in a team lacking Alessandro Stioca and David Wilson, who were both injured in the European Shield Final the same day.

All Black flanker Josh Kronfeld received a cut on the head against Wales, and moves to the bench with fellow Kiwi, Angus Gardiner of Bath, taking his place in the starting line-up.

Kevin Yates and Richard Cockerill, who toured Argentina together with England in 1997, join ex-Springbok Adrian Garvey in the front row.

Pat Howard and Geordan Murphy are on the bench after their heroics in Leicester's Heineken Cup final triumph.
