New era dawns for scrum.com!
Scrum.com
August 21, 2007

We are delighted to announce the dawn of an exciting new era for scrum.com and all its fans following the purchase of the site by ESPN.

Scrum.com was originally established by EMAP in 1997 and then sold to worldwide sports network, Sportal in 1999. When Sportal collapsed in 2001 Scrum was set for closure, but was rescued by a consortium of rugby lovers who have maintained Scrum for the last six years.

Scrum.com now joins a growing portfolio of specialist sports sites produced by ESPN, which already includes soccernet.com and cricinfo.com, and as a result will benefit from the expertise and production values of one of the premier names in the sports media.

As it approaches its tenth birthday, Scrum.com remains committed to providing an engaging on-line experience for rugby fans around the world with the latest news, features, comprehensive stats, opinion, LIVE match commentaries, galleries and competitions.

In addition, with the support of ESPN, who have demonstrated a long-term commitment to sport on the internet, we will attempt to break new ground in our rugby coverage while embracing the needs of you - the fans.

Scrum.com will continue to be your No.1 rugby destination on the web and our dedicated team of correspondents around the globe will endeavour to bring you unrivalled coverage of the sport we love.

Under the new ownership Scrum.com expects to go from strength to strength and the 2007 Rugby World Cup is a great platform from which to showcase our content to a global audience.

Thanks for your continued support,

Yours in rugby,
