Glasgow Warriors fly-half Ruaridh Jackson will have to wait for his Scotland debut after being released back to his club ahead of their opening Six Nations match with Wales at Murrayfield on Sunday.

Jackson, who has made only two appearances for Glasgow in his fledgling career, was named in his first Scotland squad two weeks ago but will now likely be blooded in the Scotland 'A' setup against Italy 'A' on February 27.

Gloucester scrum-half Rory Lawson has also been released by Scotland boss Frank Hadden prepares to name his team on Wednesday, while they are sweating on the fitness of Northampton prop Euan Murray and Perpignan lock Nathan Hines.

The highly-rated Murray is nursing a rib injury, with Hines struggling with a knee complaint. "We will monitor the progress of Euan and Nathan on a daily basis," said Scotland team doctor James Mason.

Uncapped Glasgow prop Moray Low will remain with the squad as cover after being called-up during last week
