Scotland boss Frank Hadden has drafted uncapped Glasgow prop Ed Kalman into their travelling party for Saturday's Six Nations game with France in Paris after his fellow Glasgow prop Moray Low suffered a bout of gastroenteritis.

Low, also uncapped, has been named on the bench for the game and the Scotland camp remain hopeful that he will be able to take his place. Kalman, 26, joins Glasgow fly-half Dan Parks and lock Ali Kellock as back-up.

"Moray suffered from gastroenteritis last night so will not travel with the party today," Scotland team manager Guy Richardson said. "The hope would be that he recovers in time to travel to Paris tomorrow."

Meanwhile, Scotland's Perpignan lock Nathan Hines is recovering after undergoing exploratory surgery on a knee injury. "A small piece of cartilage was removed and Nathan will now undergo rehabilitation under the care of our physiotherapists, which usually takes between three to six weeks," said Scotland team doctor James Robson. "We will monitor him accordingly."

Skipper Mike Blair remains confident that despite their injury worries Scotland can be competitive at the Stade de France.

"This week, our contact has to improve," he said. "With the Evans brothers coming in - they're excellent players - I'm confident in what they can do. They play with a freedom that's great to see at international level. With the team and squad we've got, if we get some ball, we'll be a formidable side."
