Equally at home on the wing or at fullback, Tom Williams is an England Sevens international and was part of the side that claimed the prestigious Hong Kong crown in 2004.
He hit the headlines in July 2009 when he was banned for a year after being found guilty of faking an injury to allow team mate Nick Evans to return to the field in the closing minutes of Harlequins' Heineken Cup quarter-final defeat by Leinster the previous April.
TV footage showed him putting something into the top of his sock - understood to be a capsule of fake blood - before later taking it out and putting it into his mouth. He was then seen to wink as he left the pitch while seemingly bleeding profusely from the mouth.
His ban was reduced to four months on appeal, although his coach at the time, former England international Dean Richards, was banned for three years. Williams made a low-key return in November 2009 in Quins' Premiership defeat to Northampton during which Williams spilled the red stuff for real when he broke his nose.
