Australia coach Robbie Deans has called Waratahs lock Dean Mumm in to the starting line-up to face Wales at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday.

The Wallabies are in desperate need of a victory to salvage something from their tour after defeat to Scotland at Murrayfield last weekend.

Mumm replaces Mark Chisholm and partners James Horwill in the second-row with David Pocock slotting in to the back-row in place of George Smith, who drops to the bench. The final change comes in the centre as Digby Ioane returns from injury in place of Ryan Cross.

Quade Cooper is named in the No.12 jersey despite playing 78 minutes in a victory over Cardiff Blues in midweek due to an unfortunate early injury to Brumbies youngster Matt Toomua.

Matt Giteau will need to bounce back quickly from his horror-show against the Scots, when he missed a match-winning conversion with the last kick of the game, and is paired at halfback with the impressive Will Genia.

On the bench, Waratahs utility back Kurtley Beale is in line to make his Test debut after scoring two tries against the Blues for the midweek side, playing on the wing.

Deans says the recovery of the injured quartet is a big boost for his side as it bids to finish a demanding year strongly.

"No one was more disappointed than us, in terms of the way our most recent Test outing turned out," said coach Robbie Deans. "It was an incredibly frustrating night for everyone involved, as it no doubt was for everyone who was watching back home.

"We can't alter that outcome now but we're not dwelling on it either. We will learn the lessons from that experience and move on. As a group, we are fortunate that we have another opportunity, so that we can attempt to end this tour, and the year, on a more positive note."
