Scotland coach Andy Robinson has called Northampton flanker Scott Gray to a training camp at St Andrews as they step up preparations for their opening Six Nations game against France at Murrayfield on February 7.

Gray has not played for Scotland since last season's Six Nations loss to England but stepped in as Alasdair Strokosch and Ross Rennie were forced to sit out training.

Rennie picked up a knee injury in Edinburgh's win over Stade Francais on Saturday while Gloucester's Strokosch is continuing his recovery following an ankle problem.

Co-skipper Mike Blair has also been continuing rehab after being out with an ankle injury.

Uncapped Edinburgh scrum-half Greig Laidlaw also joined the camp but was forced to sit out training due to a shoulder knock, while there were also watching briefs for Jim Thompson and Richie Gray, who have a swollen knee and facial injury respectively following the weekend's Heineken Cup action.
