  • Ulster have confirmed the capture of Sharks lock Johann Muller on a two-year deal. Muller will join the Irish province in July following the conclusion of the 2010 Super 14.

Capped 23 times by South Africa, Muller has also led the Sharks in both Super Rugby and Currie Cup competition.

"A lineout specialist and respected captain, Johann will add a hard edge to a pack that, under Brian McLaughlin and Jeremy Davidson, has become increasingly competitive over the past few months," Ulster director of rugby operations David Humphreys said.

  • Edinburgh skipper Mike Blair has signed a new two-year deal with the Magners League side.

"We're delighted; Mike is the captain of our club and a world-class player," head coach Rob Moffatt said. "Unfortunately Mike hasn't been available for us since November because of injury. But we are looking forward to seeing him back fit again to help Edinburgh enjoy a strong finish to the season."

  • Northampton centre Jon Clarke has agreed a new contract with the Guinness Premiership club. The 26-year-old has been with the Saints for six years and was in the England Saxons squad that defeated Ireland 'A' last weekend.
