  • London Irish have signed young scrum-half Darren Allinson from Cardiff Blues on a two-year deal. Allinson, 22, is a former Wales youth international and has been welcomed into the fold by head coach Toby Booth.

"We are delighted that Darren will be joining us next season," Booth said. "He is an exciting young talent, his style suits London Irish and he will be a great addition. His signing also fits well with our strategy of quality not quantity and maintaining strength in depth."

  • Gloucester have re-signed Jonny May and Jordi Pasqualin, both 20, on new contracts. The England Under-20 duo have both featured for the first team while also running out for Championship side Moseley.

"Both Jonny and Jordi have shown that they've got the talent to go a long way in the game and we're hoping that they go on to realise their potential as Gloucester players," head coach Bryan Redpath said.

  • Former Springboks fly-half Bennett Howe, known widely as "Peewee", died on Thursday aged 77. Howe represented South Africa on the tour of Australia and New Zealand in 1956 and in recent years had been battling Alzheimer's Disease.
