Wasps have unveiled plans for a new stadium at Wycombe Air Park in Booker, just outside High Wycombe.

They have also unveiled a new chief executive with Chris Thomas taking over in a joint role for both Wasps and football club Wycombe Wanderers who are also involved in the development of the new stadium.

The ambitious Aviva Premiership side are hoping to develop a 17,500-20,000 seat arena as well as a sports village in conjunction with League Two football club Wycombe Wanderers.

The two sides currently share their Adams Park home but the arrangement has been deemed unsustainable for both in terms of commercial viability and on-field performance.

"We want to move forwards," Steve Hayes, owner of Wasps and Wycombe, said. "Investing in a new community stadium and sports village means that the clubs can develop their playing and non-playing sides.

"This is about building something in Wycombe that we can be proud of, that will deliver a major boost to the community and which will create a positive and lasting legacy."

Meanwhile Thomas said he is excited by the role, which he has been fllling on an interim basis since April.

"These are exciting times as both Wasps and Wycombe Wanderers build sides that I'm confident will be successful," said the chartered accountant.
