A quartet of clubs face anxious waits prior to this weekend's Heineken Cup action after seeing key players cited.

Munster centre Sam Tuitupou, Cardiff Blues flanker Martyn Williams, Clermont Auvergne lock Jamie Cudmore and Scarlets forward Jonny Fa'amatuainu will all face disciplinary panels on Wednesday after being called up for incidents in last weekend's opening round.

Tuitupou was cited under law 10.4 (j) - 'Lifting a player from the ground and dropping or driving a player into the ground' - following a dangerous tackle on London Irish scrum-half Paul Hodgson in their Madejski Stadium loss on Saturday.

Veteran Wales openside Williams was picked out by Tony Lanaway for allegedly striking Edinburgh fullback Chris Paterson with his knee. The offence carries with it a minimum three-week suspension, meaning that any guilty verdict will affect Wales' plans for their November Tests.

Fa'amatuainu stands accused of a dangerous tackle on Perpignan wing Adrien Plante following his side's thrilling 43-34 victory at Parc y Scarlets while Clermont try-scorer Cudmore faces a double charge that he "kicked and/or stamped on" Saracens flanker Jacques Burger at the Stade Marcel Michelin.

The cases will be heard at the ERC offices in Dublin, with Welshman Simon Thomas appointed as the independent judicial officer in the Cudmore and Tuitupou hearings while England's Anthony Davies will adjudicate on the two Wales-based players.
